Description	:	Viola Naysmith, the daughter of Dillie and Samuel Masten, was born May 1, 1893, at Mahaska, Ks. She died on July 5, 1977 at the Republic Co. Hospital, Belleville, Ks. at the age of 84 years, two months and four days. Viola attended grade school at Mahaska, Ks. As a young lady, Viola worked in the Bert Brown and Art Lasby homes in Chester. Hospital, Belleville, Ks. at the age of 84 years, two months and four days. Viola attended grade school at Mahaska, Ks. As a young lady, Viola worked in the Bert Brown and Art Lasby homes in Chester. Viola was united in marriage to J.H. Naysmith on Dec. 12, 1923 in the Methodist parsonage at Belleville. They resided on a farm five mils (sic) west of Chester. Viola's twin sister, Verna, made her home with the Naysmiths from 1937 until her health failed in 1972. At that time she was moved to the Blue Valley Home in Hebron, where she still resides. Viola was a 50-year plus member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Although Viola had no children of her own, she regarded her nieces and nephews as her children. She loved people, nature, and life. Her many interests included gardening, farming, flowers and woodworking. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Dillie and Samuel Masten, and two brothers, John and David Masten. She is survived by her husband, J.H. Naysmith; twin sister, Verna Masten of the Blue Valley Home; sisters, Mrs. Nellie Worley of Holyoke, Colo., and Mrs. Vina Handley and husband Alvin of Narka, Ks.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Neils Bodholdt and Mrs. Avis Strawhun of Yuba City, Ca., Mrs. Velma Fern Bohning of Harrold, S.D., Mrs. Eavon Holmes of Nipomo, Ca.; many nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, July 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Chester with the Revs. Douglas Ferguson, Norman and Opal Crounse officiating. Music was by Mrs. Harold Porter and Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Dolan Frye was organist. Casket bearers were Alvin Vorderstrasse, Keith Frye, Larry Naysmith, John Young, Jr., Clarence Kettelhut, Kenneth Naysmith. Honorary casket bearers were Neal Eickman, Marvin Gebers, Keith Morehead, Harold Porter, Joe Duey, Joe Hunt and Paul Handley. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery. Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart in charge.
