He was born August 5, 1879 in Black Hawk, Colo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon-Dyson and was 80 years old at the time of his death. Dyson died early Friday morning, at St. Joseph's hospital following an illness of six weeks. He was born August 5, 1879 in Black Hawk, Colo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon-Dyson and was 80 years old at the time of his death. He came with his parents to Center township, south of Concordia, when he was one year old. His marriage to Miss Iva Hillan took place October 17, 1905 in Concordia. They went to housekeeping in Center township and lived there continuously until 1945, when they moved to Concordia. After coming to Concordia, Mr. Dyson was custodian at the Presbyterian Church and the First National Bank, until ill health forced his retirement. While living in Center township, Mr. Dyson served as a member of the school board of district 49. Surviving are his wife and ten children; Cecil Dyson, Hugoton; Keith, of Concordia; Harold; Higginsville, Mo.; Verla, now Mrs. Clyde Wisbey, of Glasco; Vera, now Mrs. Orville Crum, of Wichita; Loree, now Mrs. Dean Slater, of Hiawatha; Leon and Lyle of Concordia; Bernetha, now Mrs. Alfred Collette, of Aurora; and Eula Lee, now Mrs. Eugene Anderson, of Topeka. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Maude Garrison of Concordia, Mrs. Anna Vignery of Salina and Mrs. Oliver Pearce of Aurora. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, at the EUB Church, in charge of Rev. Donald Hines and burial took place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Blade Empire Vernard J. Dyson was born Aug. 5, 1879, at Blackhawk, Colo., and died in St. Joseph hospital in Concordia, Kas., Oct. 9, 1959, at the age of 80 years, 2 months, 4 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Dyson. He moved with his parents to Cloud County, Kansas when he was a year old and the family settled on a farm in Center Township, south of Concordia. On Oct. 17, 1905, he was married to Iva Hillan of Concordia. They lived on a farm in Center Township until 1945 when he retired, and they moved to Concordia. After his retirement from the farm, he was custodian of the Presbyterian Church in Concordia and of the First National bank. He was a member of the school board of Hopewell, district No 49 for several years. He was a kind and respected neighbor and friend. He is survived by his wife; ten children; Cecil, of Hugoton, Kan.; Keith, Leon and Lyle, of Concordia; Harold of Higginsville, Mo., Verla, now Mrs. Clyde Wisby, of Glasco; Vera, now Mrs. Orville Crum, of Wichita; Loree, now Mrs. Dean Slater, of Hiawatha; Bernetha, now Mrs. Alfred Collette, of Aurora; Eula Lee, now Mrs. Eugene Anderson, of Topeka; 36 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three sisters; Mrs. Maude Garrison, of Concordia; Mrs. Anna Vignery, of Salina, and Mrs. Oliver Pearce of Aurora. Funeral Services were conducted by the Rev. Donald D. Hines of the Evangelical United Brethren church, Concordia, on Oct. 11, 1959. Music was by Mrs. Vernon Martin, Mrs. Ernest Miller and Mrs. Raymond Eustice. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia.
