Description : Vernon Rolfs was a Nebraska State Trooper. He served three years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 38. Trooper Rolfs had pulled over a speeding motorist near North Platte, Nebraska. The driver shot and killed Trooper Rolfs and fled the scene. The suspect was captured and arrested hours later. The suspect was sentenced to life in prison in August of 1953, 3 months after the incident. After 35 1/2 years in prison, the prisoner died in prison on January 28th, 1989.
