The community lost use of its best Monday morning at 11 o'clock when Vern Macy passed away at his home. Vern suffered a heart attack Sunday night and failed to rally. The services for Mr. Macy will be held in the church where he was a forthright member, the Friends Church. Here at 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon will assemble all the people that remember the many kind and generous acts that were a part of the Macy personality. Rev. Albert Bohnert will officiate and Carlisle and Son Funeral Chapel will be in charge of arrangements. Internment will be made at the White Lick cemetery. If ever a man deserved an easy passing it was Vern Macy. Beloved to many as a postmaster for 10 years and also was Brown Township trustee they will wish him well. He still was a familiar figure on the streets. Always with a smile, always with a word of kindness Vern Macy will be missed. He was born near Mooresville over 76 years ago on July 26, 1875. He was the son of Perry T and Rebecca Bowles Macy. He has been here every year since. He was a pastmaster of the Masonic Lodge and an interested and willing worker even unto the last months. They could always depend on Vern at the lodge. He married Edna Holiday in 1899, who was with him to the end. Their life together was rugged at times - but they shared their strength with love. Two children also remain to mourn the passing of the man they knew as father. He offered them a home of love and they joyfully shared with him. They are Maurice Macy, of Litchfield, Ill. and Martha Mae Wiese of Indianapolis. Both of Macy's parents were pastors in the Friends Church. They raised 1 nephew, Maurice Hutton Macy; nieces, Sarah Pauline Hutton (died 1921), Catherine Louise Hutton and Martha Mae (McNaught) Macy (all sisters/brother) after their parents died at an early age.
