He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in St. Marys, to Vernon Sr. and Martha (Hilgeman) Schnarre. On Aug. 24, 1947, he married Elizabeth Louise Dicke and she died Jan. 6, 1979. Surviving are a son and his wife, Stephen and Elaine of Montpelier; a daughter, Sharon of Toledo; a sister, Wilma Kuenning, Celina; two granddaughters and two stepgrandchildren. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, flying more than 50 combat missions as a tailgunner over the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Menís Garden Club, both of St. Marys. He also judged numerous flower shows in the area. Services...at the church, the Rev.
