Description	:	Veronica Jane Carstensen was born October 28, 1906 to parents James and Pearl (Miller) Hoffman on a farm west of Bryant, SD. She grew up in the Bryant area, attending country school and later graduating from Bryant High School in 1926. Vera married Hans John Carstensen on June 20,1928 at DeSmet, SD. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, the W.E.L.C.A., and a circle in the church. She was also a member of the Bryant Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included traveling, playing cards, crocheting, crafts, and listening to music. She was a member of the Parkview singing group. She deeply enjoyed her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life is her son, Gerald Carstensen, and his wife, Elvera, Bryant; three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Delores) Chapin, Vienna SD; Mrs. Elwood (Shirley) Peterson, Willow Lake SD; and Mrs. LeRoy (Dora) Spilde, Casselton ND; one brother, Robert Hoffman, San Leandro CA; two sisters, Vilda Kothe, Watertown SD; and Lorraine Hanson, Sacramento CA; thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; one brother and two sisters.
