Thursday at Rozanck and Son Colonial Chapel in Fremont. She died Monday, July 15. 1996 at A.J.Merrack Manor in Fremont. Vesta Neisius was born June 11, 1921 in Lousiana in Cherry County. She lived in Louisania until she was six years old, and then moved to Grant. In the 1930s she moved to Burnet, Texas where she lived until 1939. From 1939 to 1951, she lived in Fremont. In 1951, she moved to Houston, Texas. She married John Black Grissom June 10, 1954 in Houston. She lived in Houston until 1962, before returning to Fremont. She had been a resident of Fremont since 1962. She worked at Wilkinson Manufacturing Company in Fort Calhoun, where she was a former Union leader. She also was a daycare provider and had workedat Pendleton Woolen Mills in Fremont. Her husband died July 1, 1981. Survivors include three daughters, Cinda (Mrs. Roy "Mac" Jr.) McCabe, Sue (Mrs Steve) Brewer, and Patricia (Mrs Richard) Loewe, all of Fremont; four sons, Charles (and wife, Connie)Montgomery, Albert Barton, bothof Fremont, Gordon (and wife Diane),Barton of Ravenna, and Carl (and wife Debra) Barton of Belliville, Ill, her mother Charlotte Norris of Fremont; two sisters, barbara (Mrs. R.B. Montgomery of Boerne Texas, Leona (Mrs. Elmer Sr.)Cornelius of Cotati, Calif. 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her father, three sisters, four brothers, a daughter, and a son. The Rev. Tom Shaw will officiate Thursday's service. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday; the family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m.Wednesday, all at Rozanck and Son Colonial Chapel in Fremont. The visitation will continue 9 a.m. to time of Thursday's service, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Vesta Grissom was born in Lewanna, Cherry, Nebraska, USA. Lewanna (1907-1933) was a town with a post office, started on the ranch of a Mr. Lewellen. He named it after himself (Lew) and his daughter Anna. Thus Lewanna. It was Lewanna, Cherry County, Nebraska, NOT Louisiana, Cherry County. Lewanna has not existed for many years. She lived there til 6 yrs old and then moved to Grant, Nebraska.
