Vincent “LaVale” Allard, 91 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Chrisoma West in Holdrege. He was born April 17, 1924 in Phelps County, the youngest of three children born to Ivar Joseph and Wilhelmena Fredericka Emma (Harder) Allard. He received his primary education from Rose Hill District #68 School in Phelps County and then attended Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1941. While in high school, LaVale worked various jobs including: O.P. Skaggs Grocery Store, the Hamburger Inn, Elston Drug and the Hotel Dale. Following his education, LaVale enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps in June of 1942 at Fort Crook, Omaha. He served during WWII in the European Campaign in France and England, as a Staff Sergeant in the 807th Air Engineering Squadron, where he was crew chief. In November of 1945, he was honorably discharged at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Following his discharge, LaVale returned to Holdrege, where he worked alongside his brother, Vern at the Texaco Service Station. He was also employed at Standard Oil for Warren Huss, Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas and Diamond T. Trucks for Merle Huston. In 1949, he purchased the Texaco Service Station and operated it until July of 1960, when he purchased the Sanitation Service. On November 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Loraine “Lori” Johnson at the Presbyterian Church in Minden, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with four children: Jeffery Alan, Janet Louise, Julie Ann, and Debra Lynn. The family continued to make their home in Holdrege, where LaVale operated Allard Sanitation for 28 years, until his retirement in November of 1986. LaVale was a life member of the American Legion, where he served as commander from 1959-1960 and was a life member of the V.F.W. He also served as a Holdrege volunteer fireman for over 38 years. Before accepting Jesus as his Savior and Lord, he was Exalted Ruler of the Elks. LaVale was a past member of the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church of rural Holdrege as a child, the Presbyterian Church of Holdrege and in his adult life, a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where he served as Trustee, Recording Secretary for 38 years, and ushered at the church for many years. LaVale enjoyed reading and tending to his vegetable garden. He was a jack of all trades; from repairs to wood crafting. LaVale’s pride and joy was his grandchildren. He had them convinced he could fix anything, and he could! In addition, he also enjoyed attending every event and activity of his grandchildren that he could. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Allard; sister, Viola Magill and her husband, Rex; brother, Vernon Allard and his wife, Josephine. LaVale leaves to celebrate his life; his loving wife of 52 years, Lori of Holdrege; his three daughters: Janet Chagnon and her husband, Tom of Hastings, Nebraska, Julie Pramberg and her husband, Terry of Lincoln, Nebraska and Debi Hadley and her husband, Craig of Loomis, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren: Gary Eby and his wife, Rhonda, Ginger Breinig and her husband, Randy, Ginny Shueey and her husband, Bob, Joe Anderson and his wife, Becky, Beth Anderson, Ryan and his wife, Allison, Brady and his finance Sarah Penner, Kim and Tyler Pramberg and Skylar, Carter and Gunnar Hadley; 11 great-grandchildren: Jacob and Elizabeth Eby, Audrey, Shannon, Connor, Meredith and Natalie Breinig, Lane, Abi and Lexi Anderson, and Morgan Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
