Description	:	Vinnie A. Cubbison, one of Fairmont's best known ladies, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 1973, in the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva. She was the daughter of the late John Cubbison and Sophia Nixon Cubbison, and was born on a farm near Mount Pleasant, Ia., on May 16, 1874. Cubbison, one of Fairmont's best known ladies, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 1973, in the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva. She was the daughter of the late John Cubbison and Sophia Nixon Cubbison, and was born on a farm near Mount Pleasant, Ia., on May 16, 1874. At the time of her death, she was 98 years, 8 months and 8 days old. She came to Fairmont in 1880 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Cubbison and younger brother, Frank, all of whom have preceded her in death. She graduated from the Fairmont high school when it was eleven grades at the age of 15. When it was extended to 12 grades the next year, she attended the school and graduated May 15, 1890, an alumna of 82 years. She was an accomplished musician. The Cubbison family owned and operated a general store in Fairmont from 1884 to 1936, and Vinnie's specialty was in the millinery department, a fitting assignment with her neat and aesthetic approach. She was a long time member of the First Methodist church of Fairmont and a charter member for 68 years of Chapter A.M. Nebraska of the PEO Sisterhood. A nice person. A fine lady. A Good citizen. Miss Cubbison loved Fairmont, its people and its institutions. The world is better that she lived. She is survived by first cousins, Charles W. Miller of Coloma, Mich., Ira D. Miller of San Diego, Cal., Sophia Miller, Little Schubarth of Denver, Col., and many other cousins. Services were held in Grace United Methodist Church, Fairmont at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, with Rev. Jay Schmidt officiating. Pallbearers were Sherman F. Ashby, Robert Bettger, Federal Bridgman, William Boren, Clyde Jacobsen and Hubert E. McClellan. Burial was in the Fairmont cemetery.
