Description	:	Vinson Pickett, aged 77, died at 11:30 Sunday night at his home on East Jefferson street, the direct cause of his death being paralysis, this following an attack of acute indigestion yesterday. Read More	Vinson Pickett, aged 77, died at 11:30 Sunday night at his home on East Jefferson street, the direct cause of his death being paralysis, this following an attack of acute indigestion yesterday. The aged man had visited Sunday with his granddaughter, Mrs. Claude Manlove, on North Maple street. He ate a hearty dinner and appeared during the day to be in his usual vigor and good spirits. The stomach trouble came upon him about 10:30 last night, the stroke of paralysis following this, the sick man dying shortly after the arrival of a physician. Mr. Pickett had not been in good health for some time, suffering a stroke of paralysis eleven years ago, and the stroke of Sunday night was the third. Mr. Pickett was born in Jennings county, Indiana, February 3, 1845, his father being William Pickett and his mother was Anna McNew before her marriage. Mr. Pickett was the fifth of a family of thirteen children, six of them living as follows: Mrs. Lou Biddinger, Mrs. James Miller and Mrs. Emma Collingswood, all of Anderson; Mrs. Julia Heavern, Westport; Marion Pickett, Atlanta and Santford Pickett, of Curtisville. Mr. Pickett was united in marriage to Hanna Smith, February 3, 1872, eleven children being born to them, five surviving as follows: Luther, Anderson, Mrs. Anna Grinstead, Freetown; Mrs. Martha Wilhelm, with whom Mr. Pickett made his home; John Pickett, who is at the Indianapolis hospital under treatment, he having suffered an attack of pneumonia, and another son, Joe, being ill at the time, his death taking place February 5. The condition of the son at Indianapolis is such that the death of his father will not be disclosed to him. Besides the children, Mr. Pickett is survived by thirteen grand children and three great grandchildren.
