She passed away on July 2, 1992 at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke following a lengthy illness. She was 80. Viola was the second oldest of 10 children. She was baptized into the Christian faith in infancy and affirmed that covenant with Christ through confirmation at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke on August 1, 1926. She passed away on July 2, 1992 at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke following a lengthy illness. She was 80. Viola was the second oldest of 10 children. She was baptized into the Christian faith in infancy and affirmed that covenant with Christ through confirmation at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke on August 1, 1926. In 1920 Viola's family moved from Nebraska to a farm four and one-half miles northwest of Holyoke. During the Great Depression Viola did housekeeping for various families in the Holyoke area. She was an excellent cook and housekeeper. In 1935 Viola married Felix Claymon. To this union a son, Delvin, was born. In the early 1950s Viola married Charles "Pete" Holtzman. They made their home in Holyoke. Pete was a rural mail carrier and every day Viola assisted him on his route. After his death, Viola continued to make her home in Holyoke. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Pete, her parents and two sisters, Agnes Oeltjenbruns of Delta and Alice Kroeger of Tehachapi, California. Survivors include her son Delvin Claymon of Amherst; four sisters, Edna Fraser of Mishawaka, Indiana, Velma Hagemann of Hamilton, Montana, Phyllis Terkelsen of Denver and Faye Anderson of Ormand Beach, Florida; three brothers, Lawrence of Paoli, Clarence of Holyoke and Harry of Fairbury, Nebraska; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services for Viola were held at Zion Lutheran Church on July 6, 1992 with Rev. Gary A. Rahe officiating. Burial was in Holyoke Memorial Park.
