Granny spent a full life as a busy homemaker while loving, raising and supporting a family that now consists of twenty and a half grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, whom she cherished and adored. Violet spent the majority of her time with her family. Her cheerful personality and love of laughter always left a warm and lasting impression. She celebrated with whatever group of family, grandchildren or friends who entered her home and was much loved by many family friends. Growing up on a farm in Potomac, Granny continued her love affair with the soil until her final days. She was a prolific gardener and canner, and for the last 16 years, she fully enjoyed her life from her daughter's family home in Gaithersburg. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Garfield Taylor [Dec. 10, 1908-Jan. 23, 1982], and one grandson, Donald Lee Foster. She is survived by six devoted daughters, Eva Foster of Gaithersburg, Doris Pollen of Darnestown, Nancy Reed of Frederick, Shirley Wilburn of San Antonio, Texas, and June Taylor and Tammy Shelhorse of Gaithersburg, as well as two loving sons, James G. Taylor of Thomasville, Georgia, and Preston Taylor of College Park. The funeral service, officiated by Dr. Wm. Louis Peil, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd., Damascus, following a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
