Description	:	BELLEVUE — Violet Elizabeth Hilker, 89, of Arapahoe died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Hillcrest Nursing Home of Bellevue. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery. Wenburg Funeral Chapel in Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on the family farm north of Arapahoe on May 5, 1928, to Fred and Louise (Koeteman) Huxoll. Wenburg Funeral Chapel in Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on the family farm north of Arapahoe on May 5, 1928, to Fred and Louise (Koeteman) Huxoll. She was the third child of 12 born to the Huxoll family. She was received into God’s Kingdom through Holy Baptism on May 27, 1928, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Arapahoe. She attended parochial school and was confirmed in her baptismal vow on May 18, 1944, also at St. Matthew. On Dec. 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Chester Hilker of Arapahoe. God blessed this union with three daughters: Geraldine, Janet and Nancy. They made their home on a farm northwest of Arapahoe where Violet continued to live for almost 69 years. She worked alongside her husband, helping in many ways on the farming/ranch operations. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking and sewing. She would always have a big noon meal ready for anyone helping on the farm and would take meals to the field at harvest times. Everyone in her family loved her homemade bread, rolls and cinnamon rolls. Violet enjoyed sewing clothes for her three daughters and also made several of her sisters’ wedding dresses. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe and enjoyed being on the College/Armed Services Committee for LWML. Preceding Violet’s death were her parents; husband, Chester in February 2001; siblings, Laurel Huxoll, Martin Huxoll, June Tracy, Wayne Huxoll and Betty Riepe; sisters-in-law, Beverly Huxoll and April Hilker; and brothers-in-law, Joe ten Bensel, Lloyd Golter, Clarence Tracy, Buddy Riepe, Myron Hilker, Darrel Deterding and Kenneth Hilker. Surviving siblings are Marjorie ten Bensel of Arapahoe, Chuck Huxoll of Holbrook, Twyla Golter of Flagstaff, Ariz., Norman and wife Dorothy Huxoll of Holbrook, Jim and wife LeAnn Huxoll of Cambridge and Isabelle and husband Alvin Pfeiffer of Arapahoe. Sisters-in-law who also survive her are Brenda Huxoll and Joyce Hilker, both of Cambridge, and Dorothy and husband Lawrence Wenger. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters and their spouses, Geraldine and Brad Rickert of Kansas City, Mo., Janet and Dick Hermes of Arapahoe and Nancy and John Bumgardner of Hastings. Violet’s eight grandchildren, with their spouses, and 19 great-grandchildren have fond memories of their time spent together at the farm: Jeannie and Derrick Wilde, Braden and Owen of Kansas City; Stacy and Joe Mudd, Kamden and Brody of Kansas City; Robyn and Dennis O’Roark, Addison and Emerson of Kansas City; Ryan and Robyn Hermes, Mandy Loghry, Brad Loghry, Christopher and Drew of Arapahoe; Nicholas and Alaina Bumgardner, Elijah, Isaac, Judah and Adam of Hastings; Nathan and Cori Bumgardner, Zoey, Taye and Edison of Omaha; Brent and Amber Bumgardner, Hadley Pleas and Cohen of Omaha; and Bridget Bumgardner of Omaha. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
