She was born May 22, 1921, at Kansas City, Mo., to Judd Vivian and Ida Louesa (Allmand) Boone. She began school at Linwood School near Lanexa, Kan., graduating from the eighth grade. Read More	McCook Daily Gazette January 5, 1998 Violet Louise Chadwick Sohus ALMA- Violet Louise Chadwick Sohus, 76, died Sunday (Jan. 4, 1998) at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center in Alma. She was born May 22, 1921, at Kansas City, Mo., to Judd Vivian and Ida Louesa (Allmand) Boone. She began school at Linwood School near Lanexa, Kan., graduating from the eighth grade. The family moved to Iowa, moving to Seymour, Iowa, and graduating in 1939 as valedictorian. She attended the Simpson College at Indianola, Iowa, for two years and the Vinnard College at Oskaloosa, Iowa, for one year. Following her formal education she taught school at Ollo, Iowa; Watseka, Iowa; Brighton, Iowa; and Elwood. On Dec. 28, 1950, she married Leslie Chadwick at the Methodist Church in Elwood. They lived on the Rhone Ranch near Cozad before moving to Wichita, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1967. On April 14, 1973, she was united in marriage to Curtis Earl Sohus at Wichita. They lived at Ragan, moving to Alma in 1974. He preceded her in death in 1989. She had lived at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center since 1991. She was a member of the United Methodist church in Alma. She was preceded in death by her parent; both husbands; one sister, Betty Francis Boone, in infancy; a step-daughter, Marge Jurgensmaeier; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include her brother-in-law, Clyde Chadwick, Newton, Kan.; four sisters-in-law, Pearl Urbam, Loomis, Ethel Gifford, Gering, Verna Carter and husband, Lloyd, Valley Center, Kan., Glenva Cannon and husband, Larry, Hutchinson, Kan.; and one aunt, Mrs. Verona Allmand. Services are Wednesday 10:30 a.m., at the Banta-Torrey Funeral Chapel in Alma, with Pastor Lyn Seiser officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe. Visitation is today from 4-9 p.m. Banta-Torrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
