Description	:	Virgil D. Brolhorst, 70, of Beatrice died unexpectedly at the Beatrice Community Hospital Thursday morning, October 19, 2006. He was born March 14, 1936 at Beatrice, was baptized April 5, 1936 and was confirmed July 3, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Wilber. On August 31, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Baehr at American Lutheran Church of Adams by Reverend J.H. Reents. Brolhorst, 70, of Beatrice died unexpectedly at the Beatrice Community Hospital Thursday morning, October 19, 2006. He was born March 14, 1936 at Beatrice, was baptized April 5, 1936 and was confirmed July 3, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Wilber. On August 31, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Baehr at American Lutheran Church of Adams by Reverend J.H. Reents. During the course of their marriage, they lived in DeWitt, Blue Springs, rural Pickrell and Beatrice. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Virgil and Marilyn owned the grocery store in Pickrell for several years. He was also employed at Peterson Manufacturing in DeWitt and at Store Kraft Manufacturing in Beatrice, retiring in 1997. After retirement, he worked part-time at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice where he was a member and served as usher, was a past member of the Stewardship Committee and served on the church council. He was also a member of the American Legion and AmVets. His hobbies included woodworking and traveling, but most of all he enjoyed visiting with people. Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Beatrice; four sisters, Evelyn Rahe of Swanton, Berdina Oltman and husband Delmar of Hallam, Verna Kiburz of Kearney and Joan Burger and husband Leonard of DeWitt; six sisters-in-law, Lila Brolhorst of Beatrice, Lenora Siefkes of Lincoln, Norma Sohl and husband Lawrence of Beatrice, Marjorie Baehr of Lincoln, Shirleen Nieveen and husband Roger of Columbus, Beverly Buss and husband Orville of Adams; one brother-in-law, Paul Baehr of Beatrice; nieces, nephews and a multitude of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Tegeler Brolhorst; one brother, Marvin; two brothers-in-law, Harold Rahe and Jack Kiburz; and parents-in-law, Henry and Geske Buhr Baehr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor David Kramer officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. in the chapel of the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Robert and Ida Brandt and LaVern and Marilyn Dissmeyer in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 3:00 P.M. Friday afternoon until 9:00 P.M. Sunday evening and then at the church on Monday one hour preceding the services.
