Description	:	Virgil Hollis, 33, died at the Municipal hospital here Saturday morning after a long illness. He had been following the carpenter trade, employed by Mrs B.W. Freeman, whose granddaughter he married, to keep up her many town properties. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Walker funeral home and burial at North Grove cemetery. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Dec 29, 1947 Virgil Hollis was born March 20, 1914, near Hepburn, Iowa and died Dec 27 at Clarinda after a short illness at the age of 33 years, 9 months and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his father Albert Hollis and mother, Lula Hollis. He was united in marriage Feb 10, 1940 to Marian Mack and to this union were born two children, a daughter Peggy Ann and a son, Ronald Lee. He is survived by two brothers, Ora L. of Riverton, Neb and Bert of Bell Garden, Calif, and a sister, Gertie, of St Louis, Mo. He also leaves one uncle, Ora Hollis of Hepburn and an aunt, Mrs Ethyl Shum of Biggsville, Ill. besides several nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Walker Funeral home at 2 pm Monday Dec 29, 1947 in charge of Rev W.W. Bentzinger. Music was furnished by Aletha Hutchings and Doris Forbes who sand "Going Down the Valley" and "God's Tomorrow." Casketbearers were Lawrence Beauchamp, Alvin Baker, Eddie Fidler, Dorman Milligan, Wilmer Milligan and Willis D. Weaver. Burial was in the North Grove cemetery.
