Description	:	LE MARS, Iowa — Virgil L. Frank, 77, of Le Mars passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with Dr. George Jennings of First Baptist Church in Le Mars officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, (Adaville) rural Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Virgil Lewis Frank was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Lewis and Emma (Cassebarth) Frank. He graduated from Denison High School and later attended the University of Iowa. On March 17, 1944, he was inducted into the U.S. Navy. He served as a naval aviator on the aircraft carrier USS Sador in the Pacific Theater. He attained the rank of seaman first class prior to his honorable discharge on June 1, 1946. He returned to Charter Oak, Iowa, following his service to his country. On April 16, 1955, he and Lois Jean Campbell were united in marriage in Denison. The couple made their home in Charter Oak and later in Denison, where he worked in auto parts sales. They moved to Cherokee, Iowa, for a brief time and he became an insurance agent. The couple relocated to Storm Lake, Iowa, where he returned to his career in auto parts sales. He also worked for the Storm Lake Parks Department and drove a bus for those with disabilities. They moved to Le Mars in 1998. He became a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center on Feb. 8, 2002. He had been a member of the Baptist church in Denison, Cherokee and Storm Lake. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Le Mars. He also was a member of the Optimist Club of Denison and Storm Lake. He was proud of his service to his country and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and rock collector and participated with the Storm Lake Rock Hounds. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois Jean of Le Mars; a daughter and her husband, Lynelle and Rodney Hodgson of Le Mars; a son and his wife, Kevin and Danel of Arthur, Iowa; five grandchildren, Roy Hodgson and Whitney, Nick, Joel and Kiley Frank; and a brother and his wife, Richard and Hilda of Denison.
