Description	:	She was quiet and demure, yet you were always aware of her intelligence and raucous sense of humor. She played the "straight guy" to my grandfather's more exuberant personality. Always in the background, she was the one who put it all together. Her homemade angel food cakes were legendary. I would sit on a stool in the kitchen and marvel at her ability to hand whip the many egg whites to a stiff meringue many years before she got an electric mixer. She regaled us with her many stories of "growing up Albert" and the courtship between her and my Grandfather Robert Hart Wall Sr. He came into church after a night of gallivanting around and as the church door slammed behind him, my grandmother turned to look at the noisy intruder, Their eyes locked and her 13 year old heart melted.. My grandfather was smitten as well and vowed he would marry her "Once I sowed my wild oats." They wrote letters for years as he traveled the country, enrolled in the Navy during WWI and finally came back to get his degree at VPI (Va. Tech). They were married in 1924 11 years after locking eyes and hearts that long ago Sunday morning. I am privileged to have most of the letters written between them during those years and it is a treasure. I, and all the grand kids loved our "Mamaw" dearly and miss her so much.
