Description	:	Virginia R. Swift, 79, of Akron passed away Monday, July 10, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital. Services were held at First Baptist Church, 300 Country Club Lane, in Akron, with the Rev. Damon Green officiating. Virginia Rae Swift was born Feb. 13, 1927, on the family farm near Akron, the daughter of W. Pearl and Cora B. (Frager) Tucker. Virginia Rae Swift was born Feb. 13, 1927, on the family farm near Akron, the daughter of W. Pearl and Cora B. (Frager) Tucker. She attended Tucker country school and later Akron High School, where she graduated from 1945. She was united in marriage to Hugh "Barney" Swift on March 25, 1945, in Akron. She worked in the parts department at Dirk's Motor in Akron and later at the Akron Creamery. In 1970, they moved to Benson, Ariz. and later to Tombstone, Ariz. She helped her husband operate Swift Chevron Service Station. After retiring, they moved back to Akron in December 1989. They have been residents of the Ridgewood Apartments for the past 14 years. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Vesper Chapter 70 and was a past Worthy Matron. She was a 15-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Akron Senior Center. She enjoyed her involvement with the First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed playing the organ and singing. But most of all, she enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include her husband of more than 61 years, Barney of Akron; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Jean and her husband, Jim Netley, of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a brother, Ellis Tucker of Akron; two grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Rachel Swift of Oshkosh, Wis., and Jennie and Jonathan MacArthur of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Rebecca and Elizabeth MacArthur; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Scott Spencer Swift on Aug. 8, 1987; three sisters, Grace Blankenburg, Dorothy Brown and Ruby Brown; and three brothers, Everett Tucker in infancy, Emery Tucker and Robert Tucker. Pallbearers were nephews Richard Brown, Larry Brown, Eldon Heeren, Gary Tucker and Bob Brown and friend, Jeff Rozell.
