Description	:	Vivian Mapes, 86, of Hays, died Monday Jan. 7, 2008 at Cedar View Assisted Living Center in Hays. She was born May 17, 1921 in Brown Co, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Cora (Rickel) Hallauer. She lived most of her youth in Brown and Jackson Counties, Ks. After her graduation from Holton High School, she lived and worked in Horton. She married Glenn D. Mapes on April 16 1946 at Horton. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Natoma. Read More	Vivian Mapes, 86, of Hays, died Monday Jan. 7, 2008 at Cedar View Assisted Living Center in Hays. She was born May 17, 1921 in Brown Co, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Cora (Rickel) Hallauer. She lived most of her youth in Brown and Jackson Counties, Ks. After her graduation from Holton High School, she lived and worked in Horton. She married Glenn D. Mapes on April 16 1946 at Horton. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Natoma. Mrs. Mapes worked at the First National Bank in Natoma and was assistant cashier when she retired in 1993 and moved to Hays. She was manager of the Ellis Flower Shop until 2004. Mrs. Mapes was active in the United Methodist Church in Natoma and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church after she moved to Hays. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary and Order of the Eastern Star. She had served as a 4-H Club leader and taught sewing classes for 4-H. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Mapes, in 1976, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Wright, Ellis, Mary Kay (Gene) Buinger of Bedford, Tx., Jerry (Ken) Patry of Springield, Ne. and Kerry (Richard) Moore of N. Augusta, S. Carolina, a sister, Lila Myers of Topeka, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the First Prebyterian Church. Interment will follow at Natoma Cemetery.
