Mr. Painter was born March 24, 1884, in Eau Clair, Berrien county, Michigan. He married Nina O. Garrison in Eau Clair on Dec. 23, 1906. Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 18 Sept 1974 Waldo Painter Dies Friday Waldo Emerson Painter, 90, a resident of Chouteau county for 65 years, died at the St. Clare hospital in Fort Benton Friday, Sept. 13, 1974. Mr. Painter was born March 24, 1884, in Eau Clair, Berrien county, Michigan. He married Nina O. Garrison in Eau Clair on Dec. 23, 1906. They came to the Square Butte area in 1909 to homestead, and were among the first settlers in that area. Until the building of the Milwaukee Railroad in 1913 their trading center was Fort Benton, a distance of 40 miles, so trips to town took three and four days. After farming for years they moved to Geraldine. Mrs. Painter died Oct. 11, 1960. Three sons and two daughters preceded him in death; Wylis in infancy, Edna, LaVerne, Thelma and Dwayne. LaVerne and Dwayne were killed in the Pacific theater in World War II. Survivors include a son, James Painter, Downey, Calif.; daughters, Louise Audet of Great Falls; Bernadine Fairbanks of Geraldine and Rita May of Fort Benton; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Otto Painter, Bellingham, Wash. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Geraldine, Monday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. Burial was in Geraldine Cemetery.
