Lee was born September 1, 1923 in Liberal, Missouri, to Allen and Minnie (Hardesty) Helms. He was a graduate of Liberal High School. He served in the Army, serving in world War II. He was wounded in the South Pacific, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. Lee married Clara Belle Taylor on February 4, 1950 in Huntsville, Arkansas. He was a farmer, welder and mechanic in the Liberal and Mindemines area. He was a member of the Christian Church of Mindenmines, the American Legion in Liberal and lifetime member of the Disabled veterans. Survivors include, wife, Clara, of the home; two sons, Paul Helms of Mindenmines, MO, and Don Taylor and wife Norma of Liberal, MO; one daughter, Betty Madison and husband Russell, of Liberal, MO; one sister, Ruth Waggoner and husband Howard of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, one brother, and three sisters. Services will be March 12, 2008 at Konantz-Warden Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, Kansas. *********************
