Darr, 55, well-known farmer of the Venus community, died suddenly Sunday evening at the Orchard hospital. He had entered the hospital there only that afternoon. Mr. Darr had been in ill health for some time, suffering from an intestinal ailment and asthma, and though worse the past two weeks, his condition had not been considered critical. Hence, his passing came as a shock, not only to his family, but also to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the home 12 miles west and one and a fourth miles north of Creighton and at 11 o'clock at the Federated church here, with the pastor, Rev. G.B. Anderson, officiating. The church was filled to capacity with friends and neighbors who assembled to pay the deceased a final tribute. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Walter Byron Darr was born at Valparaiso, Saunders county, Nebraska, October 30, 1884 and died March 3, 1940 at the age of 55 years, 4 months and 4 days. At the age of 16 he moved with his parents to Knox county, locating on a farm 10 miles west of Creighton in which vicinity he spent the balance of his life. On Jan. 13, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Gentzler. To this union five children were born, Howard, Helen, Neal, Doris and David, all of whom are living at home. He is also survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Sarah Jaquith and one brother, Baron Darr, all of the Venus community. He spent the past 25 years on the farm where he resided at the time of his death. He was a loving father and husband and his death leaves a vacancy in his home with cannot be filled.
