Description	:	Walter Johnson Walter C. Johnson, 79, Miller, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 1989. Walter C. Johnson was born July 28, 1909 to William and Minnie (Cawood) Johnson in south Hand County. He married Alice M. Huisman in Miller on January 9, 1932. Following their marriage they resided in south Hand County where they engaged in farming. Upon retirement in March of 1972, they moved to Miller, where he resided until his death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Miller and also the Senior Citizens Center in Miller. Johnson was born July 28, 1909 to William and Minnie (Cawood) Johnson in south Hand County. He married Alice M. Huisman in Miller on January 9, 1932. Following their marriage they resided in south Hand County where they engaged in farming. Upon retirement in March of 1972, they moved to Miller, where he resided until his death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Miller and also the Senior Citizens Center in Miller. Walter was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed the hobbies of shearing sheep, picking choke cherries, and dancing. He was right at home tinkering in his shop and aiding the neighbor ladies with various tasks. He is survived by his wife, Alice; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbur and Marilyn, Arnold and Bonnie, Terry and Linda, all of Miller; one daughter and son-in-law, Ardean and LeRoy Wangsness, Miller; six grandsons, Tolly Wangsness and wife Jane, Fargo, ND, Todd Wangsness, Los Angeles, CA, Paul, Darin, Lorin and Curt Johnson, all of Miller; seven granddaughters, Kristi (Mrs. Tracey) St. Pier, Omaha, NE, Pam (Mrs. John Givens, Kirkland, WAS, Valerie (Mrs. Mark) Orr, Kansas City, KS, Jill Johnson, Vinton, IA, Lori (Mrs. Gary) Fischer, Robin and Jennifer Johnson, all of Miller; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lois Fields, and two brothers, Arthur and Vern. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church in Miller with Pastor Fred Rosin, Jr. officiating. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tolly Wangsness, Paul, Darin, Lorin and Curt Johnson and Gary Fischer. Honorary pallbearers were all his many friends.
