Description	:	Alice Johnson, 95, of Miller, died Friday, February 08, 2008 at the Miller Good Samaritan Center. Alice was born April 18, 1912 to Harry and Jennie (Braak) Huisman in Worthing, South Dakota. In 1916, the family moved to a farm south of Miller. Alice attended country school in Glendale Township. Read More	Alice Johnson, 95, of Miller, died Friday, February 08, 2008 at the Miller Good Samaritan Center. Alice was born April 18, 1912 to Harry and Jennie (Braak) Huisman in Worthing, South Dakota. In 1916, the family moved to a farm south of Miller. Alice attended country school in Glendale Township. After school she worked as a clerk in the Ames Store where she met her future husband Walter C. Johnson. They were married on January 9, 1932 at the Presbyterian Church in Miller. After they were married, they moved to the family farm south of Miller. While living on the farm, Alice did a lot of the farming while Walter was taking care of the chores. They also raised chickens and milk cows. In 1972, they moved into Miller. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and sewing. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Alice was a member of the Merry Workers Extension Club, Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church and later the First Presbyterian Church in Miller. She was very proud to be 90 years old and still mowing her lawn. Her memory will be cherished by her three sons: Wilbur (Marilyn), Arnold (Bonnie), and Terry (Linda) all of Miller; thirteen grandchildren: Kristi, Tolly, Todd, Lorin, Lori, Pam, Valerie, Jill, Paul, Darin, Robin, Jennifer, and Curtis; 31 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; son-in-law: LeRoy Wangsness of Miller; sister-in-law: Elaine Huisman of Miller; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter; daughter Ardean Wangsness; thirteen brothers and sisters: Jay, Sylvia, Annie, Minnie, Bennie, Grace, Harry, Helen, Elizabeth, Ray, Doris, Dean, and Enid. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 12 at the First Presbyterian Church, Miller with Rev. Brian Jones & Rev. Nels Easterby officiating. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Arrangements by Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
