Lead Daily Call, Tuesday, September 10, 1963, page 1: Foglesong Rites Set For Thursday. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon for Walter D. 'Bud' Foglesong, well-known Lead man, who died Monday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood. The final rites will be held at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Lead, with Rev. Eric Wright officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the South Lead cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. The body will lie in state at McColley's Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established for Christ Church. Born in Lead, Aug. 5, 1900, Foglesong attended elementary school and then St. John's Military Academy at Delafield, Wis., where he graduated in 1920. Following graduation he entered the engineering department of the Homestake Mining Co. where he worked for a few years before joining Cerro de Pasco in Peru in 1926. He became superintendent of the Morococha operations for ten years before retiring in 1947. After retirement Foglesong lived in California for two years but had made his home in Lead and Mesa, Ariz. He was married at Lead in 1929 to the former June Inman, who survives. Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Mary Jackson, Tarzana, Calif.: Mrs. Ruth Daughtery, Anaheim, Calif.; Mrs. Hilda Bryan, Lead, three nieces and three nephews, and several cousins including Fred Foglesong and family of Lead. Foglesong, 63, who died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood. The final rites were held a Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. Eric Wright officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Fred Foglesong, W.J. Schoen, Walter Wylie, E.O. Berg, William L. Rosenkranz and Peter Nisick. Interment was in the South Lead cemetery under the direction of the McColley Funeral Home with Masonic graveside rites by the Golden Star Lodge No. 9, A.F. & A.M.
