Description	:	Walt was born on January 9, 1899 on a farmstead in Carroll County, Carroll, Iowa to Albert and Marie “Mary” (Meisel) Hoscheit. Albert Hoscheit and son Walter age 8 years old, in February 1906, came to Brunswick, NE in a wagon with iron wheels and pulled by mules from Iowa crossing the frozen Missouri River. Mary, along with the other five children, Albert (Bert), Benjamin (Ben), Arthur, Agnes, and Helen came in a boxcar with their two cows as far as Neligh, NE in the same year. Albert Hoscheit and son Walter age 8 years old, in February 1906, came to Brunswick, NE in a wagon with iron wheels and pulled by mules from Iowa crossing the frozen Missouri River. Mary, along with the other five children, Albert (Bert), Benjamin (Ben), Arthur, Agnes, and Helen came in a boxcar with their two cows as far as Neligh, NE in the same year. From there Albert and Walter retrieved them with the wagon and mules. When Walter became a young man, he continued to farm near Brunswick along with his father. At the age of 18 years old in 1917 Walt received his WWI draft notice. He married Elsie Lena Westerhoff on September 15, 1921. To this union three children were born, Vernard Arthur, a female infant that died at birth, and Delores Faye. Walt would tell the story of how he would make hide liquor in the horse tank on the farm during prohibition (1920-1933). The couple continued to farm near Brunswick, NE until after WWI when they sold the farm and moved to West Point, NE. Here Walt found work with the railroad and Elsie worked at a dinner as a waitress. They bought a home at 332 So. Lincoln Street and lived there their remaining years. Walt died on October 28, 1979 at West Point, NE from cancer of the jaw.
