Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 27 Nov 1946 Former Well Known Resident Dies in California Word was received in Fort Benton Sunday by Mrs. Frances Green Sullivan of the death of her brother, Walter M. Green, who passed away in a hospital in Vallejo, Calif., that morning. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage with which he was stricken on Nov. 16th and never regained consciousness. Mr. Green was born at Helena, Mont., July 4, 1877, and in Sept. 1881, he came to Fort Benton with his parents, and went through the local schools here. He then attended Shattuck Military school in Faribault, Minn., two years, and took a a business course at Sedalia, Missouri. Returning to Fort Benton he was employed for a number of years in the old Stockmen's National bank. He later went to Kansas City, Kansas, where he established a wholesale grocery business which he conducted for two years. He spent some time in Mexico, where he was sick for six months or more and then to Lewistown, Mont., and became associated with John Rauch in his hardware business, and later established a novelty store in that city conducting it until about 25 years ago when he moved to California. He served five years as chief inspector of roads in Los Angles county. He established a walnut grove at El Monte, California, and conducted it for some time and moved to Vallejo some years ago and has since been employed in the ship yards. He is survived by his wife; a stepson, Phil Gillis; a sister, Mrs. Sullivan, of this city; two aunts, Mrs. Laura Adams, Great Falls, and Mrs. Martha Scott of Seattle, and a number of cousins throughout the state. Funeral services will be held at Vallejo at 2 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon. The body will be cremated and the ashes returned to Fort Benton.
