ANKLAM BURIED ON MONDAY Died Friday Afternoon After Weeks Of Illness SURVIVED BY HIS WIDOW AND TWO DAUGHTERS Death claimed one of Crisfield's prominent young business men when Walter Rudolph Anklam passed away at his home on upper Main street Friday afternoon, of last week at 6:40 o'clock. Mr. Anklam was born at Smithville, Caroline County, Md., the son of Mrs. Anna Mae [Mai] Anklam and the late R. G. Anklam. He was 48 years of age. The Anklam family moved to Crisfield some years ago, when Mr. Anklam's father, R. G. Anklam, became manager of the Gas Company here, and the deceased had for a number of years conducted an automobile and bicycle tire repair and replacement business, in which he met with a great measure of success. Mr. Anklam was twice married, his first wife having been Ms. Hattie Christy, and they were the parents of two children. Some years after his first wife's death he married Miss Ruth Tilghman, who survives him. He was a man of fine personality, courteous and accommodating, who had many friends in all walks of life. He devoted his time closely to his business enterprises and seldom was absent from them except when ill. For some months he had been ill and although he was treated by specialists and underwent an operation in one of the Baltimore hospitals, his health did not improve, and his death was not unexpected. Funeral services were held at his home on Main street Monday afternoon at 3.00 o'clock. with Rev. R. Ricking, pastor of Immanuel Methodist Church. officiating, assisted by Rev. Chas. M. Elderdice, pastor of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery. The pall bearers were Clyde Covington, Raymond Sterling, Wells Marshall, Cullen Sterling, Lewis Bradshaw and Comptroller J. Millard Tawes. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Ruth Tilghman, two daughters, Mrs. Gordon Glatzel of Baltimore, and Miss Gladys Anklam of Crisfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Lionel Gibson of Crisfield, and Mrs. Paul C. Lawson, of Richmond, Va. The large number and variety of the floral pieces sent by relatives and friends bore eloquent testimony of the high regard in which he was held by them.
