Description	:	Walter Taft Cady died June 21, 1982 at the Crestview Nursing Home in Bethany, Missouri after a long illness. He was born January 8, 1908 at Guss, Iowa. Later the family moved to Adams County where he lived most of his life. He farmed most of his adult life, until his health forced him to quit. He was born January 8, 1908 at Guss, Iowa. Later the family moved to Adams County where he lived most of his life. He farmed most of his adult life, until his health forced him to quit. He then lived with his sister, Virginia and her family for 15 years until his health required him nursing home care. He was the son of Bertha and Stephen Warner Cady, now deceased. He attended the Methodist Grove grade school, located near the Methodist Grove Cemetery, southeast of Nodaway and graduated from the Villisca High School in 1926. Walter joined the Methodist Church at Iveyville at the age of seven. He was later baptized by a Christian Church minister, Rev. Bill Briley, formerly of Prescott, Iowa. Survivors include four sister, Rosa (Norman) Magnusson of Mendota, Illinois, Sadie (Ted) Anderson of Bettendorf, Virginia (Darlene) DeLong of Eagleville, Missouri, and Ethel (Stanley) Hill of Bettendorf; one brother, Glen of Riverside, Illinois, and one half-brother, Delmar of Villisca, Iowa. One sister, Beulah (Ira) Hatfield and one half-brother Herbert preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the Sutphen Funeral Home in Villisca, Iowa, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Bill Briley. Interment in the Rosehill Cemetery, Villisca. Music was provided by Mrs. Wesley Lewis, vocalist and Mrs. Neal Gray, accompanist. Musical selections were “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Pallbearers were Norman Magnusson, Ted Anderson, Stanley Hill, Darwin DeLong, Don DeLong and Albert Hedinger.
