Warthen, son of Ira B. and Alice Warthen, was born near Beatrice, Nebr., on April 29, 1889, and passed away at his home east of Burlington, Kans., Dec. 21, 1955, at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 23 days. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the Christian church (sic) at Chester, Nebraska. He received his education in the Chester public schools, graduating with the class of 1906. On Dec. 25, 1912, he was united in marriage to Louie E. Milner of Republic, Kans. In 1913 they moved to Burlington, Kans., where he engaged in farming. Two daughters were born to this union, Mrs. Louie Alice Spencer and Mrs. Mildred Grace Wright. On October 25, 1915 Walter placed his membership with the Pleasant Hill Christian church (sic). He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Louie of the home; two daughters, Louie Alice Spencer and Mildred Grace Wright; two sons-in-law, Harold Spencer and Lee Wright; six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Relatives who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Howard Anderson of Belleville, Kans.; Kenneth Anderson of Lawrence, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Milner, Alvin Milner and Mrs. Garce Meggitt of Republic, Kans.; Mrs. Mattie Dell Round and Bill and Mrs. Chella Harsh of St. Joseph, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sale of Neosho Falls, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Byron Smart of Osage City, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Sherwood of Colony, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bachelor of Carbondale, Kans.; Mrs. Fred Bay of Waverly, Kans.; Mrs. Jennie Winter and Mr. Vernon Winter of Allen, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Winter, Mrs. Annie Rabourn of Emporia, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nance of Leavenworth, Kans.
