Wanda was the oldest of seven children born to Arthur Dale and Nellie Wanda (Mary) Churchill. Read More	Wanda May Hinrichsen, 85, formerly of Pawnee City, Neb., was born March 22, 1926, in Fremont, and passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, in Humboldt. Wanda was the oldest of seven children born to Arthur Dale and Nellie Wanda (Mary) Churchill. Wanda met Melvin Hinrichsen when she was 16, they became engaged, but do to a "greeting" from Uncle Sam, Mel went into the service and they married on his return on March 8, 1946 in Marysville, KS. They were married 58 years when Mel passed away on May 27th, 2004. They lived on a farm in Pawnee County Nebraska most of their married life. Wanda loved her yard work and her flowers. Some neighbors would say she not only mowed her yard, she manicured it! This always put a smile on her face. Wanda worked at the Pawnee Manor for 33 years. She was 72 years old when she quit her job. She said old age finally caught up with her. She did so enjoy working with the elderly. Wanda, from her younger days throughout her life, grew up near and was very close and involved with the John and Mildred Hinrichsen family. She got to marry, of course, the oldest boy, Melvin. Becoming very good friends with Luree and with the rest of the family, Jack, Les, Ivan, Doug, and Betty. As years went by, Melvin and Wanda were a special part of the Hinrichsen family and as the families grew, with their wives, husbands and their extended families as well. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Nellie Churchill; husband Mel; brothers Reginald Churchill, Dwaine Churchill, brother Gary Donn who passed away at 3 years old; and sister Marcy Bryson. Wanda is survived by two sisters, Norma Valasek of Altoona, Iowa; Nella Kolbo of North Loup, NE; two grandsons, Gregory Dean Jackson of Lincoln, NE,Jeffery Alan Jackson, wife Amber and great- grandson Jay, of Humboldt, NE; brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City. Officiating is Rev. Duane Westing. Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 6th 9 a.m.-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City. Memorials to family choice.
