Mrs. Ray was born the daughter of Rev. Thomas Durant Mercer and Lois Jeanette Blakely Mercer on April 10, 1948, in Kingstree. She was the youngest of four siblings, Judy, Tommie Ann, and Blakely. Ray, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 14, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. Ray was born the daughter of Rev. Thomas Durant Mercer and Lois Jeanette Blakely Mercer on April 10, 1948, in Kingstree. She was the youngest of four siblings, Judy, Tommie Ann, and Blakely. She was a former Administrative Secretary with Oneita Industries and Human Resource Administrator for Georgetown County School District. She was a faithful member for over 50 years of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served: as a former pianist, organist and choir member; was active of the Women's Ministries in which she formerly served as Secretary and Treasurer; and was the loving teacher of the Sunday School Nursery for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Clemson fan. She was the epitome of a Southern lady committed to making her house a home for all who entered, presenting her best appearance adorned by her radiant smile, and most importantly always being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves a legacy fulfilling Proverbs 31, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her;… a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised." Wanda married the love of her life, Carl, on June 1, 1968, and they celebrated 53 years together. Their home was blessed with three children, Carla Marie R. NeSmith, Christopher Bradley Ray (Yasmin), and Laura Ray; five grandchildren, Chandler NeSmith, Baylor NeSmith, Cameron Wright, Colby Ray, and Chrishonna Ray. She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Judy Cooper, Tommy Anne Tisdale, and Blakely Mercer. A Home Going Celebration will be 2PM, Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment directed by McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery. The Ray family will receive family and friends 6-8PM, Wednesday evening, February 16, 2022, in the sanctuary of Andrews First PH Church. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ray family. ----------
