He was born March 13, 1919, in Georgetown County, a son of the late Christopher Mercer III and Catherine Porter Mercer. He was a lifetime resident of the Andrews community and an Air Force veteran. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was born March 13, 1919, in Georgetown County, a son of the late Christopher Mercer III and Catherine Porter Mercer. He was a lifetime resident of the Andrews community and an Air Force veteran. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Mercer retired from International Paper Co., Georgetown mill, and was also a retired ordained minister with the South Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Conference. He was a pastor in Bloomingvale, Greeleyville, Wando, Moncks Corner, Coward, Bamberg, Kingsburg and Rock Bluff, and Maxton, N.C. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Blakely Mercer; a son, Blakely Mercer of Moncks Corner; three daughters, Judith Cooper of Salters, and Tommie Ann Tisdale and Wanda Ray, both of Andrews; two sisters, Lydia Anderson and Kathryn Coutu, both of Georgetown ; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will be in Andrews Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 606 S. Cedar St., Andrews 29510. McKenzie Funeral Home of Andrews is in charge.
