Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, Neb., with the Rev. Joe Hannappel officiating and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Sidney, Neb. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. He was born May 26, 1926, in Crookston, Neb., to Charles and Nellie (Beck) Kruse. On June 16, 1948, he married Dot Rezac. She preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters, Vicki Fairbanks and her husband, Loren, of Kearney and Darcy Egging and her husband, Bob, of Oswego, Ill.; son, Brett Kruse and his wife, Debbie, of Cypress; grandsons, Justin Abbott and Trent Abbott, both of Elkhorn, Neb., and Patrick Kruse and Ryan Kruse, both of Houston; and great-granddaughter, Megan Abbott. Dale enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After service, Dale married the love of his life, Dot, and they made their home in Sidney. Dale worked for Marathon Oil Co. for nearly 40 years and retired in 1986. He was active in numerous community organizations and was extremely proud of the work he did at Sidney Memorial Gardens. He was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic community and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife of more than 59 years, he was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jerry. Published in Kearney Hub on November 14, 2012
