Description	:	Warren Lee Hendrickson was born on 9/30/1938 on a farm near Callendar Iowa to his mother Louise Edna Marie (Anderson) Hendrickson (Oct. 18, 1903 - Apr. 27, 2001) and his father Haren Johannes (John) Hendrickson (May 6, 1904 - Oct. 22, 1970). Warren attended K-12 in very small town of Somers, IA, and attended Iowa State University graduating with majors in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. Warren got his first job right out of college, moved to Raintree Drive, San Jose, California and worked his entire life for Lockheed as a Rocket Scientist. Warren was a leader on the StarWars Defense project. Warren retired from Lockheed and died of a heart attack on 10/17/2001 while working as a consultant in Arizona. Warren was the youngest of 2 brothers and 1 sister: Ronald Loyd (12/16/1926-9/6/1930) was the oldest and died before Warren was born, Marilyn Joyce was the next oldest (b. 1/4/1929), and Edward Leroy (b. 8/19/1931) was Warren's oldest brother. Warren was cremated and his one-half of his ashes are in this plot in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery, the other half were spread over the farm fields were he was raised. Warren was the most intelligent person I have ever know, and also one of the kindest, he had a great laugh, a super personality, his best friend was his loving wife Anita, and his passions were model trains and genealogy. His lasting legacy are his 3 wonderful children: Eric, Kirk, and Thor. Warren, we love you and miss you so much. He Graduated from Iowa State in 1961 with a double degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics and had worked for Lockheed in Sunny Vale California for 38 years as an aerospace engineer. A Rocket Scientist. He was working in Tucson as a consultant to Raytheon. Warren loved the farm, football, genealogy, history of the 2nd world war and the civil war and model trains. He built scale model trains from scrape metal. His wife Anita, 3 Sons Eric of Seattle, WA, Thor of London, England and Kirk of Pleasanton, Ca., Brother Ed of Ames, Sister Marilyn Turner of Rockwell City, and two grandchildren survive him Services are 10 AM Saturday October 27th at the Los Altos Lutheran Church, 460 S. El Monte Ave., Los Altos, Ca. The body will be cremated after the service. Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 27th at the Los Altos Lutheran Church, 460 S. El Monte Ave. Los Altos, California with a reception following the service. Visitation will be Friday October 26th at Lima Funeral home 1315 Hollenbeck Ave. Sunny Vale, California. Warren was born on a farm North of Slifer, Iowa and graduated from Somers High School in 1956, where he was active in sports, then attended Iowa State University graduating with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. Warren was co-chair of VEISHA in the late 50's. Warren met Anita Barnes from Pendleton, Indiana at Iowa State and they were married at Indianapolis in 1961. After graduation they moved to San Jose, California where he worked for 38 years as an Aerospace engineer (Rocket Scientist) for Lockheed Corporation in Sunny Vale, California. . They celebrated 40 years of marriage in February of 2001. In 1999 he began working in Tucson, Arizona as a consultant to Raytheon Corp. Warren and Anita made their home in San Jose, California their entire married life. He is survived by his wife Anita and sons Dr. Eric Hendrickson of Seattle, Washington, Thor Hendrickson of London, England, Kirk Hendrickson and his wife Elizabeth and two grandchildren, Anna and Emily of Pleasanton, California. Brother Ed and wife Mary of Ames, Iowa. Sister Marilyn and brother-in-law Tex Turner of Rockwell City, Iowa. Nephew Ed Hendrickson JR and wife Debra of Ames, Iowa, Niece, Melinda Hendrickson, Ames, Iowa David Hendrickson and wife Linda, Barrington, Ill, and Father-in-law and Mother-in-law retired Dr. Lowell, DVM and Helen Barnes of Pendleton, In. A brother Ronald 1926-1930, Niece Lynn 1958-1966 his Father Haren 1904-1970 and his Mother Louise 1903-2001 preceded Warren in death. Warren's Mother Louise died April 27th 2001 at age 97 and Warren died on what would have been his Mother's 98th birthday October 18th. Warren loved the farm, football, history of the 2nd world war and the civil war, model trains and genealogy. He and about 20 other engineers from his area were builders of scale model trains from scrap metal to the finished product. The body will be cremated after the service. The family asks that any remembrances be made to: Portola Valley and Alpine Railroad 20681 Canyon View Drive Saratoga, Ca. 95070 A model railroad track will be dedicated in his name at a local park.
