Description	:	Wayne Harding Haan was born on a farm east of Chancellor, SD on Jun. 21, 1921, the son of Alfred and Florence (DeNeui) Haan. He grew up in the Chancellor vicinity where he attended rural school. He then attended Chancellor High School , graduating in 1940. Wayne served in the US Army Air Corp. and then the Army Infantry during World War II. He was in the Battle of the Bulge and earned the Silver Star. Read More	Wayne Harding Haan was born on a farm east of Chancellor, SD on Jun. 21, 1921, the son of Alfred and Florence (DeNeui) Haan. He grew up in the Chancellor vicinity where he attended rural school. He then attended Chancellor High School , graduating in 1940. Wayne served in the US Army Air Corp. and then the Army Infantry during World War II. He was in the Battle of the Bulge and earned the Silver Star. He was married to Marjorie Ortman on Mar. 14, 1942 in Nebraska. Following his discharge he live in Sioux Falls the remainder of his life. He was employed at John Morrell & Co until his retirement in 1985. He was preceded in death by his mother on Oct. 23, 1973, his father on Mar. 18, 1994, one brother, David, in infancy and his daughter, Florence Haan Hardies, in 1987. Due to complications of diabetes, Wayne died on Monday afternoon, Aug. 16, 1999 at the Royal C. Johnson Memorial Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. He attained the age of 78 years, one month and 26 days. Grateful for having shared his life are two sons: Dennis Haan of Sioux Falls and Lawrence Haan and his wife, Kimberly, of Alexandria, MN; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren: one sister: Rose Haan of Chancellor; six brothers: Daniel and Iva Haan of Harrisburg, Donald and Leona Haan of Davis, James Haan of Chattanooga, TN, Fred and Clarice Haan of Chancellor, Frank and Jennie Haan of Chancellor and Dick and Karen Haan of Minneapolis, MN.
