He was a native of Baden, Germany, and came to this country about 45 years ago without much means financially. He was always very industrious and accumulated quite a fortune and had the satisfaction of seeing all his children in good circumstances before he died. He leaves 4 sons, 3 of them living here, and one of them in Keokuk Co Iowa, where the whole family resided prior to removal to the county, and two daughters, one whom is a Sister of Charity and the other living here. One of his daughters died in Iowa a short time ago. while his wife preceded hin a year ago. He was a Catholic and attended every service at the church up to the last Sunday previous to his death. He brought his whole family up in the same spirit and trained them all to be good and useful members, and worthy and respected citizens. He also leaves 44 grandchildren. His funeral was held at the Catholic Church Monday morning.
