Read More	Jerry was born on his Grandfather McCormick's farm north of Madrid, Nebraska. Jo is from Central City, NE, originally. Jerry has lived all his life in Madrid, NE except for a few years at Kearney State College right after high school and later lived for a brief time in Grant, NE. They ran a small hotel in Madrid. In 1988 Jo had a hysterectomy ... it was cancerous. But her health was excellent in 1999. Married in the Methodist Church in Winner, SD. They live in Madrid, NE where they raised all their children. Jerry is known in family as Jerry and in the community of Madrid as "Jug." Jerry was graduated from the Madrid High School in 1951. In 1953 he joined the U. S. Army, serving until 1955 with the 6th Armored Division Company "B" 249th Engineer Battalion. He was a good athlete, so he played on the Army's football and basketball teams, which took him to much of central Europe. After his military service he attended Kearney State College, where he met his future wife. They lived all their married lives in Madrid. Jerry was the custodian and maintenance man for the local school for several years. After his job at the school he worked for the village of Madrid for a few years, but in about 1994 he had a disability that ended his employment years. He has congestive heart failure, and other problems. In early 1999 he was on supplemental oxygen all the time. In October 1997 they sold the little hotel, and moved into the house in which Jerry's parents had lived. Jerry died at 6:30 AM on Monday, August 27, 2001 of an aneurysm in the lower aorta in the abdomen, in the hospital in Grant, Nebraska. His funeral was at the Methodist Church in Madrid on Friday, August 31, 2001. His body was cremated, at his request. He had requested that his cremains not be buried until his wife Jo died, was cremated and their ashes could be co-mingled and then buried in the same urn beside his parents' graves in the cemetery at Madrid, Nebraska. Methodists. Jerry & Jo's children: Bryan J., Rhonda Gail, Kyle Lynn, Suzanne Dee, Rochelle Leigh, and Angela Renae.
