Description	:	Rites Held At Polo For W.W. Martinmaas Funeral rites for Werner William Martinmaas were held Wednesday forenoon, May 3, from St. Liborius Catholic Church at Polo. A nephew, Rev. Fr. Richard Ortmeier of Platte officiated at the Requiem High Mass, with Rev. Fr. Minwegen giving the sermon. Mass servers were three grandsons, David, Alvin and Charles Martinmaas, and two grand nephews, Ray Martinmaas and Kenneth Ortmeier. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery, Polo, with Rev. Fr. Edward Lamontagne giving the prayer at the cemetery. Pallbearers were James and Joe Martinmaas, William and James Ortmeier, John Schaefer, Jr., and Harold Schaefer, all nephews of Mr. Martinmaas. Martinmaas died April 30, in a Community Bailey Hospital in Chamberlain, where he had been taken after suffering a stroke on April 15. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Martinmaas, and was born in Ontario township September 30, 1900. On May 15, 1923 he was married to Mary Schaefers, and they farmed and ranched in Ontario township until December 1961 when they retired and built a new home at Polo. He spent his time after retirement helping with the repair and remodeling of the parish church and school buildings. He is survived by his widow, two daughters and five sons, Mrs. Jerome (Carol) Nabor, Orient, and Mrs. Carol (Margie) Durfee of Highmore. Victor H. and Gerald J., Ontario township, and Werner, Jr., and Robert J. of Watertown, and Eddie, Orient; one brother, Walter, and 42 grandchildren.
