Miller, 60, of 925 Tuttle died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital following a heart attack about noon at the Highway Inn on Albia Road. Miller, 60, of 925 Tuttle died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital following a heart attack about noon at the Highway Inn on Albia Road. Mr. Miller had been an employee of the Barker Poultry & Equipment Co. since 1941 and was stockroom manager at the time of his death. The son of John H. and Alma Carter Miller, he was born in Van Buren County Sept. 15, 1905. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 47 years. He was a World War II veteran and entered the Army Nov. 17, 1942, at Camp Dodge. He was discharged Oct. 27, 1943, in Seattle, Wash. He was married to Mae L. Thrasher Oct. 18, 1924 in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Herman C. and Van N. Miller, both of Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Dillon of Ottumwa, Mrs. Nellie Staats and Mrs. Mary Howard, both of Sunnydale, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one brother and one sister. The service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in charge of the Rev. Gordon C. McMillan of Bethany Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery where military services at the grave will be in charge of the local American Legion post. Fellow employees at Barker Poultry and Equipment Co., will service as pallbearers.
