Description	:	According to Herman's online birth record, he was born June 19, 1901, in Davis County, Iowa. His obituary gave his birth date as June 10, 1901, and Herman also gave June 10, 1901, as his birth date on his World War II Draft Card registration. I do not know for certain which is correct. On June 24, 2022, I received an edit request, asking that I change Herman's date of birth from January 10 to January 19, and I accepted this request. Miller, Monday, June 10, 1974, Page 7: Herman C. Miller, 73, of 617 S. Hancock was dead on arrival at the Ottumwa Hospital at 2:55 p.m. Saturday. He had been an employe of John Morrell and Company for 42 years prior to his retirement in 1963. He was born Jan. 10, 1901, in Davis County, the son of John and Alma Carter Miller. He had lived in Ottumwa most of his life. He was a member of the local Eagles Lodge and had served as a trustee for the past 19 years. He was a former volunteer organizer for the A.F. of L. local at John Morrell. He was married to Bonita Holliday on Aug. 11, 1923, in Ottumwa. She died in 1969. On Oct. 26, 1972, he married Hazel Klett, in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Harold L. of Ottumwa, Billy B. of Sabula and Herman J. (Doc) of Brookfield, Ill.; two daughters, Juanita Lougee of Ottumwa and Evelyn Johns of Glenwood; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Van N. of Ottumwa; three sisters, Bessie Dillon of Ottumwa and Nellie Staats and Mary Howard of Sunnyvale, Calif. He was also preceded in death by one son, Robert; two brothers; and one sister. The service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ronald Ripley of the Bethany Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norman Wemer, Durward Kirby, Ora Snow, James Carroll, Marvin Armstrong and Charles Cudworth.
