Wilbur was born Feb. 4, 1923, on the family homestead near Vida. He attended grade school at Wolf Creek School and graduated from high school at Wolf Point where he played football. Read More	Wilbur Glen Eggebrecht, age 91, of Billings, formerly of Vida, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Langemo Cottage at St. John's Lutheran Home in Billings. Wilbur was born Feb. 4, 1923, on the family homestead near Vida. He attended grade school at Wolf Creek School and graduated from high school at Wolf Point where he played football. In his younger years he participated in rodeos in Saskatchewan and Montana where he rode saddle broncs and bulls until he injured his shoulder. He then married the love of his life, Kathleen, in 1946. They began to ranch and raise three children in Vida. Wilbur belonged to many organizations including the Montana Stockgrowers, Elks, Soil Conservation and the Pro-Canadian Rodeo Association and Cowboys Turtle Association, which later became the P.R.C.A. Wilbur enjoyed various hobbies like rodeo (competing/attending), wagon trains, fishing, hunting, collecting artifacts and fossils and was an amateur songwriter and storyteller. Wilbur and his brothers in-law were the first to introduce and breed Charolais cattle in the state of Montana. One of the highlights of his life was at the age of 65 years old when Wilbur and his grandson Mick rode horseback from his ranch in Vida to his daughter's ranch in the Bear Paws near Chinook. In 2003, Wilbur and Kay retired to Billings, where he mastered the city. Wilbur is survived by his spouse of 67 years, Kathleen (Steffen) Eggebrecht; three children, Helen (Garvin) Gullickson of Halliday, N.D., Steve (Elise) Eggebrecht of Vida and Thomas (Linda) Eggebrecht of Corvallis; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Wilbur is preceded in death by his brother Walter Eggebrecht, his sister Lottie Mae Schlepp, his sister Pearl Schutt and his granddaughter Jeni Eggebrecht. Wilbur will be truly missed by his family and friends, but is now using the fine print of the stars for his brand. Enjoy your rides with "Greydog." So long, great cowboy "Spats." Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Vida Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Vida Catholic Cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapels of Billings is in charge of arrangements.
