Beneke Died Saturday After Long Illness Funeral Services Were Held Monday Afternoon In Gilmore City Wilhelm Beneke died at his home here Saturday following a lingering illness of eight months duration. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the First Lutheran church in Gilmore City with the pastor, Rev. H. Stegge officiating. Pallbearers were: George Beneke of Palmer, Donald Beneke of Manson, Merle Harrison of Pocahontas, Paul Sinek of Rolfe, Raymond Wiegert of Gilmore City and Rudolph Naeve of Bradgate. Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Pocahontas. Wilhelm Beneke born Nov. 6, 1885 in Lincoln township where he grew to manhood. He was the son of Diederick and Amelia Beneke, early settlers in the county. He was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church in Lizard township. On Jan. 5, 1915 he was united in marriage with Miss Florence Sinek at the Lizard church and they established their home on a farm near Gilmore City in Lake township where they farmed until they retired and moved to Pocahontas several months ago. Mr. Beneke honest and sincere in all his dealing and he contributed much in assisting others who were in need. He is survived by his wife and an adopted daughter, Gloria Lou, 15, four sisters, Mrs. Augusta Raddahl, Gilmore City; Mrs. Mary Peters, Springfield, Minn.; Mrs. Bertha Naeve, Humboldt; Mrs. Elsena Whitely, Long Beach, Calif.; and three brothers, John Beneke of Danbury; Dick of Palmer and Gerd of Manson.
