OLD RESIDENT DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER Wilhelm Falkenberg Laid to Rest At Immanuels Cem'tery Funeral services were held at 2:15 Sunday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church for Wilhelm Falkenberg, 83, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Witte, after an illness of five months. Mr. Falkenberg has been in ill health for the past few years but had been bedfast for only the past several months. He received all the loving care of the Witte household but combined with the weakness of old age and his ailment the end came Friday afternoon. The Rev. T. H. Joeckel, pastor, was in charge of the services. He preached an excellent sermon using as his text Psalm 62, 6: "The Lord is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be moved." Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran's cemetery in York township where the home was made for many years. Pall bearers were Otto, Fred, and Arnold Sandersfeld, Albert Druecker, Herman Wille, and Clarence Teggatz. Life Sketch Wilhelm Gottfried Falkenberg was born June 24, 1856 in Schoken, Province of Posen, Germany. It was at this place where he was baptized and later confirmed into membership with the Lutheran church. On the 8th day of May, 1878 he emigrated to America, residing for a time in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, later coming to Iowa county. He made his home for many year on a farm in York township. He was united in holy wedlock August 26, 1888 with Wilhelmina Schulz, nee, Zimmerman, a widow with four children. To this union was born two children, one of which, Mrs. Chris Teggatz preceded the deceased in death. In 1919, Mr. Falkenberg moved to Williamsburg, where the wife died nine years ago. In 1899 the deceased joined the voting membership of Immanuel congregation and upon his moving to the town of Williamsburg he joined the St. Paul's Lutheran church as voting member. He leaves to mourn his demise, one daughter, Mrs. H. F. Witte; four step children, Gus Ristau, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Mrs. John Werner, Sr. of Williamsburg, Mrs. Tom Wetzel and Mrs. George Eckhardt of Iowa City; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
