Read More	Life History of Wilhelmina Emilie "Minnie" Falkenberg Teggatz, written by John T. Werner: Wilhelmina Emilie Falkenberg Teggatz was born February 15, 1891. She went to Immanuel Lutheran School when it was standing by the corner. She was confirmed March 27, 1904. She helped her folks on the farm. She married Christian Heinrich Teggatz April 7, 1910. Chris was the son of Ludwig and Anna Wille Teggatz; he went to Immanuel school, and was confirmed April 3, 1898, the year the church was being built. He had 5 brothers and 2 sisters: Albert, Ernest, Henry, Karl and George; Alvina Wetjen and Gesina Lorenz. [Rex Teggatz provided info that there were 6 brothers - 6th being John or Johann.] He already farmed before marriage on the farm where he and Minnie lived. Chris was a good horseman. Chris and Minnie had four children: Alvin, Wayne, Leona, and Merlin. I was told that one year the family celebrated Christmas at the Teggatzes'. It was so warm that they played horseshoes in their shirt sleeves. I remember the Christmas of 1917 the Falkenberg family and some of the Teggatz family celebrated Christmas at Chris and Minnie's home, the farm where Walter and Leona lived. In the fall of 1918 the influenze became really bad. Chris's brother Henry and sister Gesina Lorenz died December 7, 1918; also a cousin Henry Wille died December 25, 1918. Also young Dr. Arnold Moon and his wife and their hired girl died in the same house. My aunt Minnie Teggatz died December 22, 1918 at about 6:30 p.m. My mother and I went to the Teggatz house about 3 p.m. We looked in the south window; Aunt Minnie's bed was just beside the window. She turned her head and looked at us. We were not allowed to go in as the flu was very contagious. She passed away within a few hours. She was 27 years, 10 months and 7 days old. It was very muddy that day; it then turned cold and snowed. On the day she was to be buried there was a real blizzard, the funeral was postponed, and she was buried December 26, 1918. A practical nurse, Mrs. Reynolds of Tiffin stayed with the family for some time. Merlin was taken by the Albert Teggatz family. Leona stayed with our family for some time. Then they hired a lady, Ella Myers, to do the housework.
