Description	:	Wilhelmina Christina Peischan Hahn was born November 21, 1848, in the district of Insterburg, eastern Prussia, Germany. She was brought up according to the customs and usages of her native country--viz., christened, schooled and at the age of 14 years confirmed after a thorough instruction in the fundamental doctrine of the Lutheran Church as a member. Read More	Wilhelmina Christina Peischan Hahn was born November 21, 1848, in the district of Insterburg, eastern Prussia, Germany. She was brought up according to the customs and usages of her native country--viz., christened, schooled and at the age of 14 years confirmed after a thorough instruction in the fundamental doctrine of the Lutheran Church as a member. After her confirmation she was employed in performing useful domestic work in her native country till her immigration to the United States of America. 869, she with a sister and brother-in-law immigrated to the United States first stopping at Rock Island, Ill., and soon there after moving to St. Sebald, Clayton county, Iowa, uniting with the church there on her arrival. She was employed as domestic and cook, especially at Manchester, Iowa, until she was united in wedlock June 28, 1861 (sic) [1871?] with Frederick Hahn of Putnam township, Fayette county, Iowa. The issue of this union was 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters, viz., Frederick, Wilhelmina, Henry, Elizabeth, Magdalena, Anna, M aria, Arthur and Albert, these all survive her except the first named who preceded her in infancy at the age of one year and five months. She lived to see her wish fulfilled that all her children be brought up and instructed in the rudiments of the church before her death and confirmed as members thereof. She and her husband have always been residents of Putnam township, Fayette county, Iowa, from their marriage until her death. Her last sickness commenced October 11, 1905, and death occurred December 20, 1905, when she peacefully fell asleep, being 57 years and 29 days old. All that medical skill and kind hands could do for her was done, but the Lord provided the better portion for her by calling her home. She was buried December 28, 1905, in the Madison cemetery according to the rites of the Lutheran church, Rev's. Baumbach and Zeilinger officiating, Rev. Baumbach having charge of the services at the house and the German sermon at the church in Aurora, of which church she and her husband and the children are members, except one who belongs to Strawberry Point, and the liturgical rites at the grave, while Rev. Zeilinger had charge of the English sermon at the church in Aurora, gracefully rendering the music at the church, and assisting the Misses Baumbachs in rendering special music for the occasion. A husband, 3 sons, 5 daughters, 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters, i brother and numerous other relatives survive to mourn her loss, she being a kind and loving wife, mother and friend, and was highly esteemed and beloved by all who knew her.
