He lives to the age of 90. * * * * * * OBITUARY Henry Ripke, son of Mr. Hans Carl Ripke, nee Mary Peterson, was born in Matersen, Germany, June 7, 1833, and died at Aurora, Iowa, Sept 17, 1923, at the age of 90 years 3 months and 10 days. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Schmidt of Lescho, Germany, and to this union eight children were born, four of whom preceded him in death. Those living are Sopha Hill of Oil City, Penn., John W. of Denver, Cal., Emma D. Moll of Los Angeles, Cal., and Anna Brown of Lamont, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs Ripke came to America in 1858 locating near Brandon, Fondulac County, Wis. There they made their home for several years. In 1879 they moved to Buchanan County, Iowa, locating near Buffalo Grove. In 1881 his companion passed away and in 1883 he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Minnie Ebert of Independence, Iowa and to this union one child was born, Albert C. of Timber Lake, S.D. In 1890 he left the farm and moved to Aurora. Here he made his home till the time of his death. Mr. Ripke was a life long member of the German Lutheran church and was always found in his place of worship as long as his health permitted. The principles of Christ were embedded in his heart and daily life and this faith sustained him during his declining years. He was a devoted husband, a kind father and a friend to all who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss a loving companion, five children, one brother John F. of Aurora, Iowa, sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a host of friends.
