She was married Feb. 24, 1909 at Monticello to Gerhardt Gerdes. The couple farmed near Scotch Grove for five years, and then moved to a farm in Castle Grove township. Following the death of her husband on Sept. 17, 1937, she continued to live on the farm for the next three years, and since has made her home with her family. She was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran church. Surviving are four children, Kathryn, Mrs. M. Frederick Rieniers, Monticello, Mrs. Lorna Preston, Marion; Paul Gerdes, Monticello and Lois, Mrs. Victor Mowery of Monticello. 12 grandchildren also survive as well as two sisters, Mrs. John B. Zimmerman, Monticello and Mrs. Margaret Jacobs of Emmettsburg. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. * * * * * * * * * * * * *
