Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 20 Dec 1961 Willard Newton Ruth Passed Away Saturday Willard Newton Ruth, a resident of Chouteau county and the Geraldine area, passed away in the St. Clare hospital on Saturday, Dec. 16th. He had been in poor health for the past ten years. Willard Newton Ruth was born at Creston, Iowa, April 10, 1891, and spent his early life there. He went to Canada in 1910 and spent four years there. He came to the United States and Montana in 1914 and homesteaded east of Geraldine, where he has resided nearly all of that time. He retired four years ago from active farming. His first wife passed away a few years after they moved to Montana. He was united in marriage to Bessie May Fairbanks in this city on May 30, 1921. She passed away in 1960. During his residence here he took an active interest in all community affairs as long as health would permit. He was an active member of the Old Settlers' organization of the Hawarden district (which was named after an Iowa town). He was held in high esteem by all who knew him and neighbors and friends will mourn his passing. He is survived by two sons, Joel W. and Raymond Ruth, both of Spokane, Wash.; and one daughter, Mrs. Melva Irvin of Spencer, Iowa; two sisters, Mayme Ruth and Mrs. Maude York, both of Shenandoah, Iowa; seven grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the Community church at Geraldine. Burial was in the Geraldine cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
